    Governor of the Province of Neuquén, Argentina

     

    Certified Public Accountant from the National University of Comahue . He held the positions of Assistant Secretary and Secretary of the Honorable Legislature of the Province of Neuquén between 1999 and 2003 .

    In 2003 he was Council and Chairman of the Finance and Budget Commission of the City Council of the city of Neuquén.

    In 2005 he served as Chairman of the Banco Provincia of Neuquén. Between 2011 and 2015 he served as Minister of Economy.

     

     


  • Fernando Oris de Roa


    Ambassador to the United States

     

    On January 24, 2018, Fernando Oris de Roa assumed the position of Ambassador to the United States.

     

    Ambassador Fernando Oris de Roa is a businessman and professional manager, profoundly interested in public administration.

     

    Mr. Oris de Roa began his career in 1970 with Continental Grain, a large trading company, and was stationed in the United States, Spain, Brazil, and Switzerland. In 1993, he led a group interested in purchasing a lemon producing and processing company which was facing financial difficulties, S.A. San Miguel, located in the Province of Tucuman. As Chief Executive, he has been widely credited with turning it into the world’s largest and most profitable lemon producing company. In 2004, Ambassador Oris de Roa founded Avex, S.A., a poultry company in Río Cuarto, Córdoba. This greenfield created over one thousand jobs. He has been a Non-Executive Director of Orocobre Limited, the largest lithium operation in Argentina, since June 2010.

     

    He was Assistant Secretary for Investment, Government of the City of Buenos Aires, from 2016-2017.

     

    Ambassador Oris de Roa holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

     

    He was also a member of the Advisory Council for the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies (2003 to 2010); he sat on the Administrative Council of CIPPEC (2007-2010), and was Administrative Council member of the University of San Andres (1996-2000).

     

    He was appointed Ambassador to the United States of America by President Mauricio Macri. He is married to Mercedes de Campos, and has two daughters, one son, and ten grandchildren.

     


  • James W. Blaine


    Project Executive, International Ventures, XTO Energy

     

    A native of Texas, James Blaine graduated from North Dakota State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He joined Exxon Company USA in 1998 as a project engineer in New Orleans, Louisiana.

     

    Over the course of his career, James has advanced through numerous operations, engineering and managerial roles in drilling, gaining hands-on experience in high-pressure, high temperature drilling (HPHT), extended reach drilling (ERD), deepwater and unconventional drilling techniques. He has also held positions with ExxonMobil Development Company in Houston, with responsibility for the global drilling organization’s Safety, Security, Health & Environment and Operations Integrity efforts.

     

    In addition to ExxonMobil-operated roles, James has served as Middle East Joint Venture Drilling Manager, based in Abu Dhabi, providing support for ExxonMobil drilling operations in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar and Iraq.

     

    In April, 2017, James joined XTO Energy as Project Executive, International Ventures.  He is currently supporting ongoing operations in Argentina’s Vaca Muerta shale, as well as other international opportunities being evaluated.

     

    James is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).

     

     


  • Gary Graf


    Subsurface Manager - Wintershall

    Gary started his career as a geologist for Chevron Canada.  Since that time he has worked in a variety of positions for companies ranging from multinationals to start-ups.  His more recent work has involved evaluating shale plays which have included the Horn River, Bakken, Montney, Posidonia  and Wealden shales and currently the Vaca Muerta.  He is presently the subsurface manager for Wintershall Energia S.A. where he works with a team of geologists, geophysicists, petrophysicists, reservoir engineers and production engineers.  The team is responsible for the susbsurface requirements associated with the operated Vaca Muerta shale assets.


  • Ed Kruijs

    Technical Manager Argentina  - Shell

    Received BSc from the University of Miami in Marine Science and Geology and MSc from the Pennsylvania State University in Geology. Joined Shell in the Netherlands in 1990 for the NAM as seismic Interpreter/geologist. Was lucky to make some big discoveries in the NE Netherlands Rotliegend Play. After this initial assignment worked Nigeria DW, Shallow Water and Gulf of Mexico in different roles in both Exploration and Development. Joined BHP Billiton Petroleum for three years as Pre Development Evaluation manager for all of BHP’s exploration and Appraisal opportunities worldwide. Re-joined Shell in 2012 and had multiple roles predominantly focused on North and South America Unconventionals. Have been working  for the Latin America  Unconventional organization for the last 5 years of which the last 2 years as Technical Manager for Latin America Unconventionals.


  • Ernesto López Anadón

    IAPG Argentina President

     

    Ernesto López Anadón is President at the Argentinean Institute of Oil and Gas.

     

    Ha has an Industrial and Petroleum Engineering degree from Universidad of Buenos Aires (UBA).

     

    He has been Gas Business Development and Marketing General Manager at Repsol YPF; and was responsible for the company’s growing gas business as well as other projects. Earlier, he held several managerial positions at renowned oil companies, including Astra, Hughes Tool Co, Mega, Metrogas, Refinor and Pluspetrol Energy.

     

    Chairman at the International Gas Union (IGU) from 2006 to 2009; ha has also been Chairman at the World Gas Conference held in Buenos Aires in 2009, Chairman at the LNG Congress held in Algeria in 2010, and Chairman at the Natural Gas Research Conference held in Seoul in 2011. He has been elected and reelected President of the IAPG many times.

     

     


  • Patricia Martinez

    President of Enerflex Services Inc.

     

    Patricia Martinez is President Latin America for Enerflex, a publicly traded, global company that engineers, designs and manufactures integrated surface

    facilities to process and move natural gas from the wellhead to the pipeline. Prior to Enerflex, Ms Martinez was the Senior Vice President of International for Axip Energy Services, LP, where she oversaw the management and growth of Axip’s international business, which included operations in Latin America, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. Prior to gaining that role, Ms. Martinez was Vice President of Latin America for Valerus Compression Services, Axip’s predecessor company. Before joining Valerus in 2007, she held several positions in sales and business development with Shell. She is a board member of the IAPGH (Instituto Argentino del Petroleo y Gas – Houston), and a member of YPO (Young Presidents Organization).

     

     


  • Jorge Rivera

    Argentina Country VP, Halliburton

     

    Jorge is Mexican and has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and Administration, with a major in Finance from the Universidad Regiomontana in Mexico. He has also completed internal executive leadership programs imparted by the Texas A&M University.

     

     

    Throughout his career in Halliburton, he has gained vast experience in integrated services projects, and in the implementation of new technologies.

     

    He has 20 years of experience in the industry, performing several positions at the operational, technical and commercial levels, particularly focusing on the areas of pressure pumping, being the most recent, as Business Development Manager for Venezuela, Latin America Region manager for Production Enhancement (Fractures) and Senior Country Manager in Venezuela, his last assignment before assuming his current position in Argentina.

     

     


  • Jerónimo Alejandro Valenti


    Joint Ventures Executive Manager - Pan American Energy LLC

    He was born in Base Naval Puerto Belgrano, in 1960. He graduated from the University of Buenos Aires with a degree in Geological Science. He has done several managerial training programs in the IAE. He is father of three daughters.

     

    Resume

    After his graduation 1986 he joined Bridas SAPIC, as junior geologist in the Exploration Department.

    Between 1987 and 1992 he worked as development geologist at the same company, participating in the development of Piedra Clavada, Lindero Atravesado and Al Sur de la Dorsal oil and gas fields.

    Between 1992 and 1995 he lived in Turkmenistan, where he served as Geological Manager of the Joint Venture Keimir and Yashlar, the first being a development project by the Caspian Sea, while in the latter Bridas made a discovery of a giant field of more than 50 TCF of gas reserves.

    From 1995 to 1998 he worked in Bridas Energy Services UK, based in London, as New Ventures Manager for Central Asia region.

    In 1998 he returned to Argentina and joined Pan American Energy, performing duties as Partner Relations and New Ventures Manager.

    From 2010 he is appointed Joint Ventures Executive Manager of Pan American Energy.

     

     


  • Juan José Aranguren

     

    Minister of Energy and Mining

    Joined Shell in 1979 as a graduate trainee in the Technology Department at Buenos Aires Refinery. In 1984 he was assigned to Shell Australia, taking the position of Refinery Economist at Geelong Refinery.

     

    Upon his return to Argentina, he worked in different managing positions in Bitumen, Fuels Marketing, Supply and Trading. In 1995 he moved to London where he held the position of WA Regional Assistant for English speaking Africa and later for Latin America.

     

    In 1997, back in Shell Argentina, he was appointed as Supply and Marketing Vice-President and Member of the Shell Argentina Board. In 2000, he was appointed Retail Vice President for the Southern Cone Cluster (comprising Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay).

     

    Since 2003 and until his retirement on June 30th, 2015 he was the President of Shell Compañía Argentina de Petróleo S.A. and Vice President of Supply for Shell Latin America.

     

    In 2008, the Konex Foundation awarded him with the Merit Diploma and the Konex Platinum Prize as industry leader of the previous decade. In 2009, he was avowed as “Business Leader of the year for the industrial sector” by the local Association of Business Leaders and, in 2013, he was named Argentina´s CEO of the year after a poll carried out by PriceWaterhouseCoopers, “El Cronista” Newspaper and “Apertura” Magazine. In April 2014 he was named the CEO of the year as a result of a ballot among his peer group conducted by Ernst&Young.

     

    On December 10th, 2015, Mr. Aranguren was designated by President Mauricio Macri as Minister of Energy and Mining of the Argentine Republic. Since then, his priority has been to increase confidence in the energy sector and create the right conditions for long-term investment and a robust path towards energy security and reducing the impact on climate change.

     

     


  • Gustavo Astie

    YPF  - Unconventional Regional Manager

     

    Gustavo Astie is an Argentinian Petroleum Engineer with over 23 years of experience in the Oil & Gas Industry who got his Academic degree in Petroleum Engineering in Mendoza city, his hometown.

    His current position is as a Business Manager for Unconventional Oil & Gas Assets with broad experience in Operation, Planning, Reservoir Engineering and Well Completion.

    Throughout his 13 years working for YPF, he has developed an extensive knowledge focusing on the development of the main blocks comprised in the Vaca Muerta Shale play, such as Loma Campana, El Orejano, La Amarga Chica, Rincón del Mangrullo, Aguada de la Arena, Bandurria, etc.

     

    As a results-driven Business Manager, Gustavo has led a Production plan resulting in a significant increase in the business production and profitability from 2014 to date.  One remarkable achievement in his career is based on putting into operation the first Shale Gas field in Vaca Muerta.

     

    He’s been responsible for developing Strategic Plans including the coordination and monitoring of the annual budget to optimize and manage E&P Portfolio Projects.

    During his career path, Gustavo has devised Annual Exploration budget for Argentina and other countries in the region including Brasil and Bolivia as part of the Business Unit for Exploration Projects.

     

    Prior to YPF, Gustavo worked for Petrobras Argentina as E&P Planning Chief from 2003 to 2005.

     

    Before Petrobras, he started to work as a Reservoir and Workover Engineer for Perez Companc from 1995 to 2002.

     

     



  • Mariano Gargiulo


    Southern Cone Geomarket VP

     

     

    As per the global corporate integration between Baker Hughes and GE Oil & Gas announced by mid 2017, Mariano Gargiulo has been appointed Southern Cone Geomarket Vice President based in Buenos Aires.  From November 2016 on, he developed the role of Southern Cone Area Director for Baker Hughes (involving Argentina, Bolivia and Chile). From 2012 to October 2016, he served as Vice President, Wireline Services for Baker Hughes Incorporated based in Houston.

     

    Gargiulo joined the Industry in 1990 with Schlumberger where he occupied a series of field operations and management positions in Iran, Egypt and the UAE, prior to holding a variety of management  and leadership positions including General Manager for Wireline in Continental Europe based in Milano, Italy, General Manager in Qatar, District Manager in Mexico, as well as a variety of functional management positions including Wireline training and development manager for Europe, Africa and Russia Caspian based in Paris, France and Worldwide Training and Development Manager for WesternGeco based in Oslo, Norway.

     

    Gargiulo holds a Master of Business Administration degree  from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an Industrial Engineering degree from  ITBA (Buenos Aires, Argentina).

     

     




  • Javier Gutiérrez


    Corporate Global Operation Manager - Tecpetrol

     

    Javier is an international executive with more than 35 years of E & P experience.  He worked for over 30 years with Chevron Corporation in the USA, Kazakhstan, Venezuela and Argentina in positions of increasing responsibility ending  in 2003 as the Manager of Operations and Technical Projects in the PetroPiar project in the Faja de Orinoco in Venezuela.  From 2010 until 2013, he worked for Bridas Corporation of Argentina as Chief Operations Officer in their Pan American Energy operations.  As of 2013, he has been employed by TECPETROL  S.A. in Argentina as Director of Global Operations. One of his most recent projects was Start-Up Manager of the Fortin de Piedra Vaca Muerta Development.


  • Michel Le Vot


    Vice President, Geosciencies - Total E&P Americas, LLC

    Michel Le Vot he has over 30 years experience in the oil & gas industry and through his career at Total has had the opportunity to lead various exploration and development ventures.

    He graduated with a PhD in structural Geology from the University of Brest (France), working the Over Thrust Belt of Central Utah, thanks to a Joint Research Program between the Colorado School of Mines, the University of Colorado (CU) and the USGS (US Geological Survey).

    He subsequently joined Total in Denver (Colorado) as “Geologist Frontier Regions, North America”, and was quickly affected to France as “Team Leader Aquitaine Gas” in charge of the last Development Phases for the Meillon and Lacq Gas fields. This position, leading a multi-tasked team revealed to be a very fast learning and enriching experience.


    He then moved on, to serve in various managerial positions within Total, primarily in South America, Asia/Pacific and Africa which allowed him to gain a broad technical and cultural experience.

    Michel is currently Director Geosciences at Total E&P Americas, based in Houston, where he oversees the company’s assets over the continent.


  • Germán Macchi

    Germán Macchi is Country Manager of Pluspetrol Argentina since March, 2016.

    He joined the company in 1996 and has served several important functions. He was formerly Commercial Vice President and prior to that, Executive Manager of Pluspetrol Norte (2009-2012).

    Macchi holds a undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering and a MBA in Economics and Business Administration

     

     


  • John Norton

     

    Partner - Bain & Company Houston office

    John Norton is a partner in the Bain & Company Houston office. He joined the firm in 2001.

    Prior to joining Bain, John spent three years with Coastal Corporation in their Power Generation and Pipeline business.  John is a member of Bain’s Energy practice and has worked with a broad range of E&P, Pipeline, Utility, Generation, and Transmission & Distribution companies on projects related to growth strategy and performance improvement.  John has deep expertise in unconventional Oil & Gas including shale gas, tight oil, and coal seam methane.  His experience includes working with companies in North America, Europe, Latin America, and Australia, in a broad range of topics including performance improvement, operational model and organization, BU and entry strategy, M&A, post-merger integration and procurement, among other.

     

    John earned an MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, graduating in 2002 with honors.  He also graduated from Brigham Young University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a minor in Spanish.

     

     


  • Alberto J. Saggese

    CEO of the provincial company Gas y Petroleo del Neuquén, which he joined in May 2014.

     

    He started his career in 1980 with YPF, where he worked until 1983, year in which he obtained a Scholarship to complete his studies in France. In 1985, he returned to Argentina and joined TOTAL AUSTRAL as Legal Advisor. In 1992 he joined Sociedad Comercial del Plata as Legal Department Coordinator, and was promoted to Senior Legal Advisor for Compañía General de Combustibles, position which he occupied until 2000. In 2001 he joined EG3 as Legal Affairs Manager, and subsequently served as Legal Affairs Manager for the Exploration, Production, Refining and Petrochemical Department at PETROBRAS. In 2006 he was promoted to Government Relations Manager. In 2011 he served as General Manager of the Argentine Energy Chamber (CEDERA).

     

    Lawyer, holds a Degree from the Universidad Nacional de Buenos Aires (1979), and a Post Graduate Degree in Energy Law from Paris-Sorbonne University (1985).
